GIVEAWAY TIME

In order to celebrate reaching 500 likers on my Facebook page I thought it was time for a giveaway! So I searched high and low through my fabric stash and made this lovely Christmas baby bib - My 1st Christmas! The bib is premade (two layers of polyester/cotton with velcro closure) and will fit from newborn to approximately 12 months of age and maybe longer!
I have appliqued and embroidered this bib using the fabric and thread colours as seen. I have then made and sewn some matching bias binding to finish the bib. So how do you win this bib? First you need to be a liker of my Facebook page (please remember to like from your personal page not your business page) then you need to visit my Christmas bib album for 2012 and tell me which bib you like and you will receive one entry into the draw.

Wow I have been "sew" busy with orders I haven't had much time to update my blog. Here is just some of the creations I have been sewing since last month and the beginning of a very busy time of year for me.

Pink or blue which one for you?

Well winter is in full swing here in Australia. The nights are cold and the days are varied,some dry and some rainy days inbetween. I have been busy working on lots of orders so I will include some below remember to check out my stores or my facebook page for my latest items.

MORE PERSONALISED BIBS AND MATCHING BURP CLOTHS

It's been a busy week here at Thecabbagepatch! I have just finished a large order along with some new matching bib and burp sets which can be found in my Etsy store. I am also working on getting my entire range of monogram baby bibs updated and on my facebook page for you all to see. Here's some of the new sets for this week!

PERSONALIZED BABY BIB AND MATCHING BURP CLOTH

My embroidery machine is back and I have been busy working on some new personalized baby bibs and matching burps! These are just gorgeous and are available in my Etsy store and later in the week my Madeit store. Plenty of fabrics to choose from including Dr Seuss, Spots on green, Polka dots and elephants just to mention a few. A word on the bibs I can offer you the handmade bib and burp cloth for $34.95 or a premade bib with a matching burp cloth for $30.00 not including postage. Burp cloth is white in colour embroidered the same as the baby bib and is made from a premade hand towel.

MINKEE FABRIC LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

Goodbye April and Hello May! Only one month left of this lovely Autumn weather before Winter and the cold weather sets in. My embroidery machine is currently being serviced so I am taking the opportunity to sort thru my fabric stash, wash and iron new fabrics which have just arrived and at long last cut my stash of gorgeous minkee fabrics! These fabrics will make gorgeous personalised mini minkee blankets and I love all the prints it's hard to choose a favourite! Keep an eye on my Facebook page as soon as samples have been made they will be listed in both my stores!

APRIL SUN

Half way thru April and its beautiful Autumn weather here in Melbourne. My fuschias are still flowering, my orchids are about to flower and whilst the days are warm the nights are getting colder.
So now my attention turns to winter and all the gorgeous winter fabrics that are available now - minkee, fleece, chenille just to mention a few. Keep an eye on my blog as I will be having a giveaway shortly to do with one of these items!
In the meantime I have been busy working on orders and juggling my days between sewing, housework and shopping.

LINGERIE BAGS

I needed to make some more Birthday presents so a few weeks ago I raided my stash and came up with four different fabrics. Two bags are made from quilting cottons, the third is made from Satin and cotton and the last is made from calico with some strips from a Jelly roll used at the top and bottom.
So I measured a rough pattern for the bag - 18inches x 12.5inches and added extra fabric so the bag would be lined. The black ribbon was purchased from Spotlight and was the only purchase I had to make.
The embroidery design came from here on Etsy and is easy to stitch out. The hardest decision was which colour threads to use!

PERSONALIZED BABY BIB AND BURP SET LADYBIRD

I just love ladybirds and with so many beautiful flannels available at the moment I decided to make this lovely personalized baby bib with a matching burp cloth (burp cloth is not personalized).
Baby bib is a perfect size for newborns with velcro closure and the matching burp cloth is made from a prefold diaper to which I have added a layer of flannel. There is a total of four ladybird fabrics to choose from and these are now listed on Ebay (Australia). Coming next is a gorgeous owl set!

CLOTH PADS

I recently purchased a pattern for making cloth menstrual pads on Etsy from seller Ihearttosew and immediately set about searching thru my huge stash of fabrics (flannel and cottons) to make these and found the only thing I had to purchase was PUL. So lucky to find someone on Ebay (Australia) selling it so once it arrived it was down to business.

Fabric requirements:

Flannel fabric
Towelling (terry)
PUL
Snaps

I made both cotton and flannel pads and would definately make more of the flannel - its nice and soft against the skin. The towelling I have on hand is lovely and thick and it definitely pays to add the PUL as this is a waterproof layer to prevent leaking. So I used a total of 4 layers as follows

Top or 1st layer – flannel or cotton
2nd layer – towelling
3rd layer – PUL
4th layer – flannel or cotton

I did change the shape of the pattern to make it easier to sew (see last pic) and plan on making many more! If you have been thinking about making these I would highly recommend you make one to try! They are easy to wash to, I soak mine overnight in a bucket of cold water then pop into a lingerie bag and wash with the towels!

SHABBY PERSONALIZED BABY BIB

Things have been very busy here at Thecabbagepatch!
I have been sorting thru all my fabrics doing a mini stocktake, ordering new fabrics, as well as playing mum and housewife to my two kids and husband.

I have a fondness for all thing shabby so when I came across this fabric in my stash I just had to make a baby bib. This bib is personalized and reversible so you have two looks from the one bib.
